Several members of WISENet were able to attend the funeral service for Diana Temple which was a wonderful celebration of a life fully lived, and of a vibrant and unique

person who was much loved. The family expressed their appreciation for the WISENet wreath of flowers (in white, purple and green colours) and card. We were particularly grateful to Heather Rossiter, for delivering a wonderful eulogy (Dr Diana Temple AM) which I think truly encapsulated Diana’s philosophy of helping women through providing encouragement and mutual support.

Afterwards we adjourned to Cuneo’s, a favourite outdoor restaurant of Diana’s in Hunters Hill, where we have held WISENet get-togethers on several occasions. Prophetically, Cuneo’s had closed 2 weeks before Diana died, but another café next door provided lunch and a longer chance for us to reminisce. The old Sydney central link team is gradually dispersing with Sarah Miller in Newcastle, Julie Crowley on her way to Western Australia, and Margaret Hartley moving to Melbourne. Julie Evans has returned to Sydney now after 3 months in Melbourne.

There were several people unable to attend the funeral so Jenny also organized a brunch in Diana’s honour at Dolcissimo in Leichhardt on the last Sunday in September. It was an enjoyable occasion and perhaps the start of a new Sydney WISENet tradition. It has been great to see Diana’s life contributions remembered in several obituaries elsewhere including the Sydney Morning Herald, ASCEPT, the Jessie Street library and The Lancet [v368: pg 1322. Oct 14th, 2006].
